Reiki 101 

ReikiMaybe you have heard of Reiki and maybe you haven’t. Most are vaguely familiar with the idea but still aren’t entirely sure what it is, how it works, or whether reiki sessions would be beneficial to them. Does this feel familiar? Are you one of those people? If so, this is a brief primer on Reiki. 

What is Reiki?
At its essence, Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.  The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy.” In practical terms, Reiki is a  safe, non-invasive therapy that works on the cellular level. It can be experienced as a stand-alone treatment to healing and it can also be used together with most other therapies to support specific health problems or for prevention, general health, and well-being.  And just in case you are wondering, Reiki is pronounced like, "RAY-key."

What Are The Common Benefits of Reiki?
If you are familiar with other healing modalities like acupuncture then you already have a basic understanding of how Reiki works. Reiki follows the pathways of energy flowing in your body and goes where it is needed.  Because of that, Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can benefit from. What Can You Expect?
Reiki healing sessions are a loving expression of your commitment to self-care and healing. Your intent to simply receive the energy is all that is required.  We provide in person and also, remote sessions that last between 45-90 minutes.  During a Reiki healing session, I place my hands lightly on, or slightly off, the body to channel and direct the flow of Reiki energy to the recipient, clearing blockages, restoring balance, and infusing the whole being with additional universal life force energy.
